SaBL
Mission Statement What SaBL does is to offer the chance for medical students to be trained by the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) to teach parents and carers of infants how to carry out CPR and other emergency interventions.

Description Unfortunately, one of the highest causes of infant mortality is due to accidents, of which choking and drowning are the most common. What SaBL does is to offer the chance for medical students to be trained by the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) to teach parents and carers of infants how to carry out CPR, what to do in the event of choking and near drowning and to stress the importance of early access to advanced care, in the hope of preventing some of these avoidable deaths in the future.

Once students have been trained, they can take part in the number of teaching sessions that we organise in coordination with Leicester PCT, schools, Sure Start Children's Centres and creches throughout Leicester. The majority of our courses will take place in the economically deprived areas of the city, where the incidence of childhood accidents is highest and they will all be offered free of charge to the public.

If you think you may be interested in taking part, then you can sign up to our mailing list on the Medsin notice board in the coffee lounge (msb) and we will keep you posted on the dates for the RLSS training and the SaBL teaching sessions. Also, we will inform you on future educational and fundraising events throughout the year.

If you have any further queries do not hesitate to contact the SaBL committee by email sabl@live.co.uk.
